About the event

Master drummer Nicky Reid will talk about the drumming methodologies he uses in educational settings to enable a beginner to be able to understand how to discover various tonal ranges on a drum. Examples will be taken from African and Caribbean drumming traditions. The talk will incorporate a short workshop and Q&A.

Nicky Reid aims to promote, develop and sustain ideas and initiatives to advance African and Caribbean drumming through the use of workshops, discussions, demonstrations, performances in both the formal education and community networks. Leading workshops has taken Nicky as far afield as Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Brazil, Germany, Holland and throughout the United Kingdom.
